Dr Katherine Forsey CSciTeach
I am an Education & Outreach Consultant (est. 2008) and undertake a wide variety of work for clients in the commercial, education and charity sectors. I have experience across all educational levels, from Early Years through to Higher Education. My services cover three main areas, Education Consultancy, Outdoor Learning and CPD Delivery, but I often branch out into other diverse and exciting projects.
My doctorate is in Biology from the University of York (2007), where I also studied for my BSc Hons in Molecular Biology (2003). I spent time working in industry with Syngenta and at the University of Cambridge with my industry sponsors. During my degree and PhD, I discovered my passion for education and outreach. In 2007, I joined the Yorkshire Arboretum to lead their new outdoor education and outreach programme. In 2008, I established my freelance consultancy services part-time with my first project for the Woodland Trust working on their Nature Detectives resources. I worked at the Association for Science Education from 2010-2014, first as their Field Officer for Yorkshire and then as Field Officer for The North. In 2012, I left the Arboretum to go to STEM Learning Ltd at the National STEM Learning Centre where I managed a national training and development programme until 2017 when I took my growing portfolio of freelance consultancy work full-time.
I am currently the Learning Rooms and STEM Consultant for Gratnells alongside independent consultancy work for a variety of clients, schools and charities. I enjoy the challenge and diversity my work brings.
I am a Chartered Science Teacher (CSciTeach), an accredited CPD Quality Mark Lead Facilitator and a registered STEM Ambassador. I am a member of the Association for Science Education and The Institute for Outdoor Learning. I am a passionate communicator and confident public speaker and enjoy working in a range of environments, from classroom to laboratory, conference centre to woodland, school grounds to community libraries and everywhere in between.
